With 50-100+ shoots per day and roughly 200 photos processed per session, the manual process cumulatively demanded around 12 hours of work daily. This not only strained resources but also forced Jeremy to hire additional staff, limiting his ability to take on more clients and generate quicker revenue.
Platform Limitations:
Pic-time does not offer a public API, so initial attempts relied on workarounds like Dropbox integrations, which fell short due to API load limits and additional complexities.
Our Solution
Custom Integration via Make.com and AppleScript
Jet Black Solutions engineered a streamlined automation process that transformed Jeremy's workflow:
Folder-Based Trigger
Jeremy simply drops his photos into a designated local folder and tags them "ready for upload." An AppleScript monitors this folder, triggering the automation.
Automated Album Creation & Upload
The integration automatically creates a new Pic-time album, uploads all tagged photos, and posts them directly to the album, bypassing the need for manual intervention.
Bypassing API Limitations
Due to the lack of a public API from Pic-time, we coordinated directly with their president and lead developer. To manage API load limits and other constraints, we generated XML files within our Make.com scenario, ensuring smooth communication and data transfer.
Partial Manual Steps
Despite the automation, a few settings, such as selecting an album cover, still required manual input, though these represent a minor fraction of the overall process.

Building on this automation, Jet Black Solutions partnered directly with Pic-Time to ship Pic Time Assist a native macOS desktop app that replaces the Make.com, webhook, and Dropbox layer from phase one with a single local watch folder. Setup collapses to "download the app and log in," the same automation runs across multiple machines, and the whole pipeline lives inside the Pic-Time ecosystem.
